Steel Cut Oats is one of my favorite breakfast foods! If I remember to prepare them the night before, it becomes a quick and easy breakfast. It’s super easy to make and only takes a few minutes of your time, right before bed.
Measure out one cup of steel cut oats and set aside:
Boil 4 cups of water:
Pour steel cut oats into the water:
Turn off heat and place the lid on the pan after boiling settles down (to keep from boiling over).
Leave the oats in the pan on the stove with burner off all night:
When you wake up in the morning you have delicious cooked oats:
You can keep them in the fridge for up to a week. I just continue to reheat a serving every morning and add my favorite mix-ins.
Add in suggestions:
- 1 TB of Peanut Butter or Almond Butter
- flax meal
- dried cherries or cranberries
- sliced bananas
- anything healthy with no added sugar (use fruit for the added natural sweet taste)
